Dialogues of the Deaf

“Listen to all the conversations of our world, between nations as well as between individuals. They are, for the most part, dialogues of the deaf.” Dr. Paul Tournier

This statement written 45 years ago is more accurate today than it was in 1957.  Even Dr. Tournier could not have imagined how our communication has failed to keep up with our supposed modernity.  The IPhone, facebook, twitter, Internet chat rooms all create the illusion of intimacy without the substance of truly hearing.

Hearing the story of another person is one of the blessings of our shared humanity.  Our life stories are full of joy, sadness, mystery and wonder.  When we take the time and effort, yes effort, to truly listen and to hear we are often awestruck with the resilience and strength of our fellow travelers.

When we are too anxious to make our own point… when we are too eager to defend ourselves from perceived attack…when we are too busy to be bothered…when we are too distracted by the business of our own lives… we miss out on this great privilege.

What would it cost us to put all this aside and simply listen with a heart open to the beauty of another’s story?  The time, the patience, the choice would be well worth it when we experience another’s gratefulness for having been truly heard.  It would be well worth it when we experience renewed courage to reflect honestly on our own lives.  It would be well worth it.

Happy fall wishes from The Village Clinic!

We appreciate your support over the past six months and wanted to let you know that we are very excited about some of the events coming to the The Village Clinic.

As flu season gets closer and closer please come in to get your family prepared with our Cold and Flu Protocol.

We will be holding our fourth Fireside Chat.  It will take place Wednesday, November 21st, 7:00-9:00 p.m. to talk about addressing colds and flu's from a naturopathic perspective.  Space is limited so call soon to reserve a spot, and please bring a friend.

At the end of November we will be having our first Organic Counter-side Cooking Class.  We'll share gluten free and wheat free recipes with great ideas for family-friendly and decadent delicious meals.  This is going to be a fun evening to share a passion for food (and good organic red wine, or course).  Space will be limited to 10.  More information on this soon.

Just a reminder to those allergy sufferers, we offer NAET at the clinic.  Now is the perfect time to deal with your seasonal allergies.  For more information on this treatment please go to www.naet.com.  Treatment packages are available for the 10 basics (10 visits for $450).  I have been practicing NAET for the past 15 years and it truly can be an amazing way to address allergies.

We are now offering sauna time for our patients at $20 per visit.

After school and evening appointments are now available for those who can't get by during the day.

Hope to see you soon.
